Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to carry out routine manual metal arc welding (MMAW) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW), using both steel and aluminium, for farriery activities. It covers determining job requirements, preparing materials and equipment and selecting appropriate welding techniques to ensure integrity of materials during welding process. Weld quality is not required to meet an Australian Standard or equivalent. Fillet and butt welds would typically be performed on low carbon/mild steels.The unit applies to individuals who are required to weld to carry out farriery services across different equine industry sectors.No occupational licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
